Over the years we have commissioned new
music from leading contemporary composers for many projects. These composers have included Alasdair Nicolson, Stephen Deazley, Rory Boyle, Edward Harper and many more.

Railway
Mania
by Huw Warren
This exciting new
piece by renowned jazz composer Huw Warren was performed by
120 primary school children from East Ayrshire alongside members
of the SCO. The music is inspired by the railways of Scotland
both past and present. The world premiere performance of Railway
Mania took place on Thursday 28th October 2004, Palace Theatre
Grand Hall, Kilmarnock, 7.30pm.
The Voice of a City

Specially commissioned by the SCO and the City of Edinburgh Council to celebrate the complete restoration of the Usher Hall Organ.
Featuring Chamber Orchestra, a 300-strong chorus of adults and primary school children and the Usher Hall Organ.
Code Name Electric

An exciting new work for electric quartet, bass, keyboard and 200 young singers, commissioned from Karen Wimhurst for primary schools in West Dunbartonshire. World premiere in December 2003.
Music for King Arthur

Scottish-based composer Edward Harper has created a magical 40-minute work for four primary school choirs, brass quintet, piano and percussion. The Magic and Mystery of Camelot brought to life in song and music. Available with design, costume and staging.
