Pre-concert Talks
Pre-concert talks feature regularly throughout the season. They are free to concert ticket holders, and give you the opportunity to meet some of our start artists for 2007 - 2008. The talks always begin at 6.30pm.

This concert features the UK premiere of Mark-Anthony Turnage's new piece, Concerto for bass/bass guitar. Sensational bassist John Patitucci takes the solo in this brand new piece.

Inverness Eden Court Theatre - Saturday 12th January (7.15pm)
This concert features music by Mendelssohn, Spohr and Beethoven conducted by Andrew Manze. Andrew Manze, who will be talking about the programme in his pre-concert talk, is one of today's most passionate and articulate advocates of early music. As a violinist he specialises in repertoire from 1610 to 1830. As a conductor, Manze is in great demand among period and modern-instrument orchestras around the world. He also teaches, edits and writes about music as well as broadcasting regularly on radio and television. You may know him as a presenter of BBC radio's Early Music Show.

The SCO celebrates its passion for new music in this concert. Sally Beamish's new piece features the virtuosic Raschèr Quartet who were such a hit last Season with their Philip Glass concerto performance. Performed in this concert by the same team that gave that first performance this is not to b e missed. All the more so as the concert also includes a new work by Stuart MacRae and Strauss's epiphanic Metamorphosen. In the pre-concert talk Haflidi Hallgrímmson and Stuart MacRae will talk about their work.
