Autumn Classics Tour (Sept 2008)
Charismatic SCO Principal Maximiliano Martín takes centre stage with a performance of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto as part of the four-concert Autumn Classics tour across Central Scotland and Fife between 3-6 September 2008. Following the success of the Orchestra’s tour across the central lowlands last year, the players will perform in Motherwell Concert Hall (Wednesday 3 September), Falkirk FTH (Thursday 4 September), Paisley Town Hall (Friday 5 September) and Dunfermline Carnegie Hall (Saturday 6 September).


Highland Winds Tour (July 2008)
The SCO Winds Tour 2008 brings a diverse and European flavour to the Highlands with a programme of six short works in Aboyne, Boat of Garten and Cromarty between 17-19 July. The programme features works from the Renaissance right up to the last century that are rarely performed together. This includes Two French Renaissance Dances by Gervaise, Weber’s Overture, Euryanthe, and Gounod’s Petite Symphonie, written exclusively for a concert series in Paris in 1885 dedicated to wind music.


Highland Strings Tour (July 2008)
The SCO Strings bring a special programme of music to the Islands next month, when they visit the Isles of Arran and Islay, as well as Crear, in the penultimate tour of the summer between 18 – 20 July. Following a successful tour to the Western Isles last summer, SCO Leader Christopher George once again takes on the dual role of director and player the performances, which boasts two of the most popular works ever written for strings, Elgar’s Serenade and Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence.


Highlands 2 (July 2008)
The SCO’s second Highlands tour of the summer sees performances of popular classics in Strathpeffer, Portree and Fort William from 10 – 12 July. Following the sell-out success of the Orchestra’s visit to Strathpeffer Pavilion in 2007, the players return to the Pavilion on 10 July. They will also perform at the Nevis Centre in Fort William and at Portree’s Community Centre on the Isle of Skye for the first time since 2001.


East meets West: SCO world premiere (June 2008)
In June, the world’s greatest living sarod player, Amjad Ali Khan, takes to the stage with conductor David Murphy, the SCO LAB Music Project and the Orchestra at the St Magnus Festival for the world premiere performance of Samagam.


Highlands 1 (June 2008)
Following sell out performances in Stirling and Findhorn last summer, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra makes a welcome return to Stirling Castle’s Great Hall, Fraserburgh’s United Reformed Church and the Universal Hall in Findhorn between 5 – 7 June.


South of Scotland tour (May 2008)
In a light-hearted start to its busy summer touring schedule, the SCO welcomes back Swiss conductor Baldur Brönnimann for four concerts of popular classics in Langholm, Galashiels, Newton Stewart and Duns between 28-31 May.


SCO 2007/08 Season Closing Concert (May 2008)
German conductor Andreas Spering will replace the SCO’s Principal Guest Conductor Olari Elts in the final concert of the Orchestra’s 2007/08 Season, Nelson and Napoleon, which features Beethoven’s Symphony No 3 ‘Eroica’ and Haydn’s Nelson Mass.  Olari Elts has had to withdraw from these performances due to ill-health.  The concert will be performed at Edinburgh’s Queen’s Hall on Thursday 8th May, Glasgow City Hall on Friday 9th May at the Music Hall, Aberdeen on Saturday 10th May.


Sinfonia Concertante (May 2008)
French conductor Louis Langrée joins the Orchestra for the penultimate concert in the SCO 07/08 Season with performances in St Andrews (1 May), Glasgow (2 May) and Edinburgh (3 May). In these performances, Langrée is reunited on stage with two of today’s brightest young soloists, fellow Frenchmen Renaud Capuçon and Antoine Tamestit.


Director's Notes IV (April 2008)
In the last of the SCO’s Director’s Notes series, American pianist/conductor Stephen Kovacevich joins the Orchestra to perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto in C, K503 and conduct symphonies by Beethoven and Mozart.


Summer Touring and Edinburgh International Festival (April 2008)
The Scottish Chamber Orchestra follows its extensive 2007 summer touring schedule, which included performances in Shetland, Stranraer and the Outer Hebrides, with another programme of tours to bring live music to some of the country’s most remote regions.


Season 08/09 Launch (April 2008)
The SCO today announced details of its 2008/09 Season of concerts throughout Scotland between October 2008 and May 2009, including performances in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, St Andrews, Inverness, Perth, Dumfries and Ayr.


Brahms Violin Concerto (April 2008)
SCO Conductor Emeritus, Joseph Swensen and solo violinist Henning Kraggerud join the Orchestra in a programme of music inspired by Bohemia, Hungary and Austria.


Mørk plays Hallgrímsson (April 2008)
For the last Adventurer concert of the SCO’s 07/08 Season, conductor John Storgårds is joined by soloist Truls Mørk and the Orchestra to perform Haflidi Hallgrímsson’s Cello Concerto Op 30.


Director's Notes III (April 2008)
The SCO continues its Director’s Notes series with an all-Beethoven programme from a truly visionary musician, Christian Zacharias.

SCO Principal Guest Conductor, Olari Elts, profiles some of his favourite music with an all-Schubert programme in St Andrews, Ayr, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Mackerras conducts Mozart (February 2008)

CL@SIX - Choral Splendour (January 2008)
The SCO Chorus breaks with tradition in the last of the current CL@SIX series by performing without the orchestra.


Mozart's Flute Concerto (January 2008)
SCO Principal Flute, Alison Mitchell, steps into the spotlight as soloist in Mozart’s Flute Concerto in G, under conductor Paul Meyer. The Orchestra then heads to Germany on a 10-date tour with Emmanuel Pahud in the soloist’s role.


Director's Notes I (January 2008)
Four of today’s most outstanding pianists take on the dual role of soloist/director in the SCO’s special four-concert series, Director’s Notes. Opening the series is Finnish pianist Olli Mustonen, who has performed extensively throughout Europe and America and also founded the Helsinki Festival Orchestra. 


Adventurer - Walker conducts Beamish (January 2008)
The Raschèr Saxophone Quartet returns to perform the world premiere of Sally Beamish’s Concerto for saxophone quartet. Under conductor Garry Walker, the Orchestra will also perform Gruber’s Manhattan Broadcasts, Stravinsky’s Dumbarton Oaks, and Tom Wilson’s Symphony No 5.


SCO's CL@SIX series: City Symphonies (January 2008)
Under guest conductor Nicholas Kraemer, the Orchestra will take a musical visit to The Hague (Mozart’s Symphony No 5) and Oxford (Haydn’s Symphony No 92) before finishing up in Paris with Mozart’s Symphony No 31.

SCO Principal Clarinet Maximiliano Martín performs Spohr's Clarinet Concerto No 2, performed alongside work by Spohr's contemporaries, Mendelssohn and Beethoven.

Violinist Viviane Hagner is reunited with conductor Frans Brüggen for an all-Mendelssohn programme including the composer's Scottish symphony and his Violin Concerto.


SCO performs Beethoven Symphony No 5 and Haydn’s Harmoniemesse (October 2007)
The first choral concert of the Season opens with Haydn's Harmoniemesse and Beethoven's Symphony No 5, under guest conductor Thierry Fischer.


CL@SIX: New classics at six series for Scottish Chamber Orchestra (October 2007)
The SCO's new series of popular classics at six o'clock kicks off on Tuesday 9 October in St Cuthbert's Parish Church, off Edinburgh's Lothian Road, with Mozart's Gran Partita.


SCO opens new Season with Sibelius anniversary celebration (September 2007)
The 2007/08 Season opens on Friday 5 October in Glasgow City Halls with an all-Sibelius programme to mark the 50th anniversary of Sibelius’ death, conducted by the Orchestra’s new Principal Guest Conductor, Olari Elts.
